There's been a lot of chatter about the new spin on Southern Charm. In late April, CBS announced it was adapting a new story based on the hit show. Brava has no comment on that project at the moment. While Southern Charm is wrapping its seventh season now, season five is already airing Thursdays at nine p.m. ET/ PT on Bravo. That means there are already some major changes coming for the show. In the book, Dufleur and Carl had a complicated relationship. However, in the TV series, things are much more straightforward. Now, however, they're working together to keep the family's social life going. Here's what to expect from the newest season. One of the major events for the new season is the addition of more characters. First up will be the introduction of Carla Gabler as Aunt Alice. The spoiled teenager from the earlier seasons of Southern Charm will have a secret life as an Aunt Alice. In the book, Alice was also a spy for the Intelligence Service. Now, she'll be living in the home of a wealthy family in the Hamptons. Another addition to the summer house is Daniella Giancarlo. In the books, Daniella was a rival of Carl and had a major role in keeping the family peace. Her presence in the summer house will add spice to the show, especially as she gets more involved with the other characters. Her presence will also bring an aesthetic element to the show, as her presence adds certain artistic flourishes that were missing in season four. Additionally, Summer House got a lot more funny in the fourth season. The writers finally started to get a grasp on just what makes for a great sitcom: having a solid central conceit. The writers finally found a storyline that works consistently and develops the characters. This also allowed the show to start developing its characters' relationships. In essence, the writers developed characters that are capable of developing and moving toward complete transformation. Finally, the writers pulled off what could very well be their signature episode this year: they completely confused the audience. What began as a murder mystery solved by Chief Brodie quickly devolved into a whole bunch of misunderstandings. Chief Brodie is the Chief of Detectives; he solves the crime, after all. However, in the midst of a montage of his amazing catchphrase about catching a suspect with a digital fingerprint (complete with a reference to the show's spin-off), he accidentally puts everyone at risk. In the end, the audience is left asking, what happened? Hopefully, the answer to that question will be revealed in the final episodes of Summer House. I can only hope that the show ends its eleventh season in a way that will leave the audience satisfied and ready for another round of misdirection and clever one-liners. After all, what's the point of ending something that you just started? The end of a successful season can signify the renewal of a relationship, and the beginning of a new adventure. So, it's safe to say that we're looking forward to another summer house. Will the show maintain the momentum that it built during its first season? Only time will tell. In the meantime, Summer House fans can look forward to a few familiar faces returning for more laughs. It was a pleasant surprise to see Mr. Macaulay Culkin show up for his brief appearance. The man was no doubt cagey about appearing on the show, but he certainly made everyone happy by laughing at his own joke. There's also Michael Chiklis, who played the cynical and skeptical FBI agent, Jim Carter. Chiklis has appeared in some previous Scrubs episodes, so it's likely that he'll pop up again. We'll have to wait and see. One new member of the ensemble is Chris Mulcahy, who plays Dean Wormer. The real life Mulcahy has been married and divorced twice, but he's recently reconnected with his college sweetheart. He's still not over his divorce, though. According to showrunner John Eisler, Mulcahy will only show up in a couple of episodes. I'm not sure why. I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed away until next season, especially if fans don't like his annoying, cynical humor. You'll also find a couple of new faces, namely Rachel Cook and Ian McShane. Glulam building materials was mentioned as a possible love interest for Danny Pink but didn't actually get that far. I think she'll be more like Ann Foolster than anything. McShane, meanwhile, plays the cynical, right-seeing character. He'll most likely appear in at least one episode, since he's such a nice guy.
